Timeform Daily: Monday, Kempton 17:15

Mac's Power would be thrown in off this mark at his peak and has shown enough in 2 starts at Lingfield this year to suggest he can end his long losing run.

Timeform provide a runner-by-runner guide and verdict on a six-furlong handicap at Kempton...

Peace Seeker ended a long losing run when notching a turf double at Yarmouth (5f) last summer. Reliable on polytrack since, but the handicapper looks in charge for now. First-time tongue tie fitted here.

My Son Max scored over 5f at Wolverhampton in April and suggested he was on the way back when third here in December, but he failed to build on that at the former venue last time.

Naabegha took advantage of the drop to claiming company at Lingfield in December, but he's finished nearer last than first on all 4 starts in handicaps since and is now tried in a hood.

Light From Mars got back on the scoreboard in a 7f claimer at Wolverhampton for this yard in July before a spell with Tom Dascombe. Has found the frame in 3 of 4 starts this year, but more needed to resume winning ways.

Clear Praise grabbed the favoured rail when making all at Lingfield (turf) in August and not disgraced in 2 starts here last month after an absence. Still work to do from this mark, but a first-time hood may help.

Bainne landed a trio of turf handicaps for Charlie Swan in Ireland last year, but she was well held on her debut for new connections over C&D in January and needs to step up on that to figure.

Valmina bounced back to form when scoring at Lingfield in January and followed-up there 10 days later. Not disgraced when seventh in a similar event last weekend.

Toymaker showed that he still retains all his ability when landing an 8.6f Wolverhampton handicap early last month. Struggled off this revised mark there 12 days later, however.

Tyfos is a weak finisher who was placed 4 times on polytrack early in 2013, but hasn't troubled the judge in 6 starts on turf/fibresand since

Mac's Power was a very useful handicapper in his prime for James Fanshawe and ran his best race for this yard when runner-up in a Lingfield handicap last month. Potentially well treated if continuing his revival.

Glastonberry returned to winning ways at Wolverhampton in September and was just denied by Valmina on her penultimate start at Lingfield. Best excused her effort there last time (short of room final furlong).

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Mac's Power
2. Glastonberry
3. Clear Praise

Timeform View: Mac's Power would be thrown in off this mark at his peak and has shown enough in 2 starts at Lingfield this year to suggest he can end his long losing run. Glastonberry almost certainly remains in form and may provide the strongest challenge to the selection.

Timeform Daily: Wednesday, Lingfield 15:00

"Highly Likely needs to prove he can cope with turf, but he's thrived in the care of Steve Woodman, and gets the benefit of the doubt..."

Timeform analyse the runner for Wednesday's 15:00 at Lingfield, a handicap over a mile and three furlongs...

Hurakan improved to win at Sandown (1¼m) in July and not disgraced final 3 starts in 2012. Nothing wrong with 2 comeback efforts in recent weeks either, and ought to be in the mix once more.

Double Cee won 3 times at up to 9f last year for Richard Fahey, but ended season out of form, and not fired over hurdles for new yard. Tailed off on return to Flat at Windsor, and plenty to prove now.

Foxhaven is a multiple turf winner who took advantage of a drop in the weights to win an 11f handicap at Kempton last month. Vulnerable off revised mark back on turf, but shouldn't be disgraced.

Steely improved for this yard in 2012, winning twice prior to good third in a 1¾m Salisbury handicap in July, Not straightforward, though, and well beaten either side of seasonal break.

Jolly Roger was much improved to land 6-timer over hurdles last summer, but hasn't looked ready to strike of what appears to be a lenient Flat mark, finishing only seventh of 10 at Newbury last time.

Highly Likely has got back to best for current yard, runner-up at Kempton 3 of last 5 starts, and shed maiden status when winning AW handicap here last month from Gladstone. Form on turf patchy, but should do better.

Drummond is still a maiden. Best effort this season when 2½ lengths fourth of 10 to Tawseef in handicap at Chepstow last time. Well treated on pick of 2012 efforts if he can build on that now.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Highly Likely
2. Hurakan
3. Foxhaven

Timeform Verdict: Highly Likely needs to prove he can cope with turf, but he's thrived in the care of Steve Woodman, and gets the benefit of the doubt. Hurakan is preferred to Foxhaven and Drummond for minor honours.

Timeform Daily: Monday, Redcar 16:10

Rylee Mooch was back to his very best when collared late at Newmarket last week, and may prove too strong for last year's winner Bedloe's Island...

Timeform examine each runner in a five-furlong handicap at Redcar...

Last Sovereign enjoyed a productive 2012, winning 4 times. Just as good this year prior to lesser effort after blowing the start at Chester last time, so no surprise if he bounced back.

Bedloe's Island won this last year and got back on the scoreboard on his second try for new yard at Thirsk (5f) this month. Found wanting off revised mark at York last week, but this less competitive.

Another Wise Kid signed off for 2012 with a win at Ayr (5f) in October. Solid efforts all 3 comback outings this year, and no reason to think he won't be on the premises once more.

Jack Luey is a tough and consistent sprinter who deservedly regained winning thread at Hamilton in September. Goood fourth when returning at Thirsk on Saturday, so one to consider if turned out again quickly.

Medici Time has run poorly since cashing in off reduced mark at Newmarket (6f) in August, failing to beat a rival when reappearing at Doncaster last month, and something to prove for the time being.

Verinco struggled to recapture best last year. Fared no better switched to AW in January, and others have less to prove now returning to turf after another break.

Partner added 2 more wins to tally in 2012, however, not the most reliable, and others more persuasive in refitted blinkers following a low-key return at Newcastle last month.

Rylee Mooch was generally consistent during a successful campaign on AW over the winter. Dead-heated for second on turf return at Newmarket (5f) last week, and fair chance he will be in the shake-up again.

Willbeme was progressive when landing a brace of 6f handicaps in August. Beaten off this mark when last seen in September, though, and needs to prove as effective over 5f on return.

Cocktail Charlie managed to get competitive off similar marks on occasions last year, but more required in order to end the drought on reappearance.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Rylee Mooch
2. Bedloe's Island
3. Last Sovereign

Timeform View: Rylee Mooch was back to his very best when collared late at Newmarket last week, and may prove too strong for last year's winner Bedloe's Island. Last Sovereign and Jack Luey are others that enter calculations.

Timeform Daily: Tuesday, Yarmouth 15:40

"King Of Jazz has run in some good handicaps last 3 seasons, and though yet to win one, has shaped well both starts this year..."

Timeform analyse a decent handicap over seven furlongs at Yarmouth on Tuesday...

Khubala did well at 3 yrs, winning 3 6f handicaps before fine effort in defeat in Ascot contest in October. Pedigree offers hope he'll stay 7f and could go on again this term.

Princess Of Orange won 1m Newmarket handicap on good to firm last summer. Well held in couple of stronger races as year ended and needs to pick up again on return with mark looking on stiff side now.

Spirit Of Sharjah is a hold-up performer who has fine turn of foot when on song. Fended off sole rival in a 7f minor event at Kempton (7f) in January, but not in the same form since, and others make greater appeal.

Karam Albaari came up short in pattern/listed races at 3 yrs after making winning debut at Kempton (6f) in September 2010. Missed 2012 and can only be watched on return.

Noble Citizen didn't quite kick on from Goodwood second early last season. Has dropped in the weights and should make presence felt in some good handicaps this term but may need this.

Swiss Cross is now 5 lb below last winning mark and better than bare result both starts back on turf this month, finishing well behind Ajjaadd at Epsom latest. Leading claims.

Galician has gained all 3 wins over 6f but has stamina for this trip and ran a blinder when touched off by York Glory at Pontefract last week. Leading claims from same mark if overcoming highest draw.

King Of Jazz has run in some good handicaps last 3 seasons, and though yet to win one, has shaped well both starts this year at Doncaster over 6f. Just as effective at 7f and well worth considering.

Fast Finian has done well on AW for this yard, winning 3 times in 2012. Some good efforts in defeat since latest success but must carry that form back over to turf now. Blinkers tried.

Bayleyf improved throughout 2011, winning 6f nursery at Glorious Goodwood. Been given big chance by the handicapper after quiet 2012 and excuses for Lingfield defeat in January.

Comrade Bond has gll 3 wins over C&D but no great record fresh and may just need this.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. King Of Jazz
2. Galician
3. Swiss Cross

Timeform Verdict: Galician ran a blinder at Pontefract and Swiss Cross will find an opening again before long, but perhaps this could be the day King Of Jazz gets an elusive first handicap success following on from 2 eye-catching efforts at Doncaster.

Timeform Daily: Sunday, 15:35 Wetherby

"Twirling Magnet beat Savant Bleu at Newbury early last month, and looks capable of confirming that form even if the latter bounces back from a poor run later that month..."

Timeform analyse a handicap chase on Sunday's card at Wetherby...

Time For Spring was all out to hold on off 4 lb lower at Sandown in November, and not repeated that form in 3 runs since. No sign of a revival after a break at Taunton early this month, and passed over again.

Twirling Magnet is a bumper/novice hurdle winner who confirmed promise of first 2 starts over fences when landing 2¾m Newbury handicap with a bit to spare last month. More to come if staying this longer trip.

Savant Bleu broke his chasing duck by beating Arbeo at Fakenham in December, and good second to Twirling Magnet at Newbury next time. Went as if amiss on latest start, but claims if bouncing back.

Rich Lord finished placed for fourth time since 21f Carlisle handicap win when a keeping-on second at Ayr (2½m) in January, but disappointing both outings since, and let down by jumping at Newcastle last time.

Acrai Rua put up a gritty performance from the front to resume winning ways at Carlisle (3¼m) recently, but needs to scale greater heights to defy subsequent 9 lb rise. Pulled-up at Perth on Friday.

Everaard is a Musselburgh specialist who gained first win away from that venue in 25f handicap hurdle at Catterick in February. Ran a stinker last time, however, and looks high in the weights back over fences.

Frank The Slink took well to chasing initially, winning 21f handicap at Carlisle in March 2012. Has run poorly on either side of an 10 month break since, though, and needs to prove his well-being now.

Blazing Bull was a winning pointer who has picked up progressive thread in handicap chases this spring, and in control some way out when completing hat-trick over C&D earlier this month. Not reached his limit yet.

Western Gale cashed in off reduced mark over C&D in April 2011, but showed little in race won by Blazing Bull here on return from lengthy absence recently (struggling when unseating). Left alone now.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Twirling Magnet
2. Blazing Bull
3. Savant Bleu

Timeform Verdict: Twirling Magnet beat Savant Bleu at Newbury early last month, and looks capable of confirming that form even if the latter bounces back from a poor run later that month. A bigger danger will come from Blazing Bull, who had a ton in hand when winning over C&D last time, and hasn't stopped improving.

Timeform Daily: Monday, Doncaster 15:00

Rock On Ruby should strip fitter now after his return but Darlan was most impressive when winning the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day, and can further enhance his Champion Hurdle claims here...

Timeform give their view on a fascinating hurdle race that is sure to have an impact on the Champion Hurdle market...

Countrywide Flame showed all his battling qualities when a gutsy winner of the Triumph Hurdle, and stepped up again with easy win in Fighting Fifth. Only fourth behind Darlan in Xmas hurdle last time, though.

Darlan was one of last season's best novices, second in Supreme Novices' before readily winning Grade 2 at Aintree. Showed himself a high-class hurdler when landing Xmas hurdle on return and one to beat.

Rock On Ruby took just 3 starts last season to develop into top-class hurdler, beating Overturn by 3¾ lengths in the Champion Hurdle. Shaped as if needing return in December, and merits plenty of respect.

Clerk's Choice was third in Scottish Champion Hurdle in April but well held since, including on the Flat/jumpers' bumper. Looks up against it here.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Darlan
2. Rock On Ruby
3. Countrywide Flame

Timeform View: Rock On Ruby should strip fitter now after his return but Darlan was most impressive when winning the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day, and can further enhance his Champion Hurdle claims here.

Timeform Daily: Monday, Leicester 14:10

Act of Kalanisi is a useful hurdler who wasn't far off that level when close fifth in a decent maiden at Ascot on chasing debut/reappearance. This definitely easier and looks the one to beat.

Timeform take a look at this interesting novice chase...

Court In Session is a dual hurdles winner who won on chase bow at Hereford in May and good second at Wetherby later that month. Below par when last seen in July but booking of McCoy suggests better expected on return.

Tindaro bettered hurdling form when opening chase account at Fontwell (2¼m) in August. Placed next 2 starts and claims if latest poor run can be forgiven. Cheekpieces added to usual tongue tie now.

Act of Kalanisi is a useful hurdler who wasn't far off that level when close fifth in a decent maiden at Ascot on chasing debut/reappearance. This definitely easier and looks the one to beat.

Balinroab is an Irish point winner who was runner-up in couple of maiden hurdles in the spring. Should be sort to do even better over fences at some point but market probably best guide to expectations on return.

Ciceron was a useful hurdler, winning a Sandown handicap in January. Lost way towards end of last season, however, and fared no better switched to chasing on reappearance. Need to see more before supporting.

Denali Highway won a bumper on debut but bit disappointing over hurdles for Alan King last season and needs to improve for fences and change of yard to make a significant impact here.

Dubai Crest was a fairly useful hurdler for Nicky Henderson but left that yard since last seen in September and remains to be seen if he's capable of similar level sent straight over fences by new yard.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Act of Kalanisi
2. Court In Session
3. Tindaro

Timeform verdict: Act of Kalanisi showed enough at Ascot to suggest he's going to translate most of his hurdling ability to chasing and can take advantage of the 7 lb he receives from previous chase winners Court In Session and Tindaro.

US Election Daily Update: Can GOP get a grip of Trump

In senate races, the most expensive ad-wise so far has been Virginia. The Democrats remains 1.511/2 favourites to hold the Senate, and we can’t see anything else happening.

Donald Trump has been hitting the headlines with his outbursts against Barack Obama but who does he think he's helping? Meanwhile, both candidates have been pouring even more money in to advertising as the race gets closer. Elliot Pollak reports...

Just when Barack Obama thought it was safe to come out without a birth certificate in his pocket, Donald Trump has slivered into being again. Yes, Trump's much-hyped announcement over the past couple of days was a promise to give £5m to charity, but only if the President would produce his school records. (Just give it anyway!)

Who Trump thinks he is helping is unclear. Just like the nonsense over the birth certificate, this whole unpleasant business makes the Republicans look a) desperate and b) nasty. One suspects Trump doesn't take orders from GOP HQ, but if they do have any control over him, they'd be advised to lock him in a box for the next fortnight.

Obama hit back on Jay Leno last night, joking that the grudge between himself and Trump stems back from their days playing soccer together on the fields of Kenya. On a more serious note (perhaps), the President also promised an enormous bar of chocolate to any Trick-or-Treaters who visit the White House from Ohio.

The fact that even Halloween looks like becoming politicised is a sign of how close this race now is. Another sign that this will be a more closely fought contest than in 2008, is the result of a new survey reporting that there have been well over double the number of televised ads this time around. Both sides are clearly determined to seize every wavering voter going. Indeed, the Republicans have spent ten times more on television then they did four years ago.

In senate races, the most expensive ad-wise so far has been Virginia. The Democrats remains 1.511/2 favourites to hold the Senate, and we can't see anything else happening.

Timeform Daily: Long Distance Cup, Saturday, Ascot 13:45

"Opinion Poll firmly established as one of the top stayers around, splitting Fame And Glory and Colour Vision in 2011 renewal..."

It's probably not giving much away to say that Frankel and Excelebration are our selections in the Champion and QEII, so we instead look at the first race at Ascot on Champions Day, the Group 3 Long Distance Cup...

Aiken completed six-timer when making all in tactical Group 2 at Chantilly in June. Lost little in defeat in Hardwicke Stakes and Irish St Leger, but this no easier and stamina to prove. Ground fine.

Askar Tau is a quirky sort but smart on his day, as he showed when length second to Saddler's Rock in the Goodwood Cup in August. Even a repeat of that still leaves him short in this company.

Colour Vision was not seen to best effect when behind Opinion Poll in this last year, and reversed the form with that rival in the Ascot Gold Cup. Just respectable efforts in 3 outings since. Cheekpieces reached for.

Electrolyser had the run of things when winning listed event at Nottingham in April, and his limitations have been exposed every time he's tackled Group company, behind 3 of these in the Goodwood Cup.

Fame And Glory proved himself the best stayer around in 2011, culminating with a ready success in this contest. Unable to attain same heights this year after reappearance success, so must bounce back.

Ile De Re has been a real success story for this yard, landing ultra-competitive Chester Cup and Northumberland Plate earlier this year. Well worth try at this level, and firmly at home under these conditions.

Opinion Poll firmly established as one of the top stayers around, splitting Fame And Glory and Colour Vision in 2011 renewal. Runner-up behind latter rival in Ascot Gold Cup but goes well fresh and ground fine.

Rite of Passage is a smart hurdler whose finest hour came when landing the Gold Cup at the Royal meeting here in 2010. Has been restricted to just one outing since and questions to answer after such an absence.

Saddler's Rock has developed into a high-class stayer, landing Doncaster Cup last autumn and the Goodwood Cup in August. Right there with principals on best form, but disappointing last 3 outings.

Timeform 1-2-3
1. Opinion Poll
2. Ile De Re
3. Fame And Glory

Timeform Verdict: With 2011 winner Fame And Glory not arriving here in the same form this time around, Opinion Poll makes plenty of appeal in his bid to go one better this year with soft ground no inconvenience. If conditions turn very testing, Ile de Re could exceed many peoples' expectations.

Timeform Daily: Thursday, Park Hill Stakes, Doncaster 14:55

Wild Coco is unexposed after just 6 career runs, and made successful return from absence of nearly a year when winning Lillie Langtry Stakes at Goodwood...

Timeform offer a runner-by-runner guide to the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster...

Cracking Lass made up into a useful performer last year, and finished fourth in this event. Respectable fourth in listed race at York on recent return but another minor role looks on the cards.

Wild Coco is unexposed after just 6 career runs, and made successful return from absence of nearly a year when winning Lillie Langtry Stakes at Goodwood. Given plenty of time to recover and leading contender.

Ambivalent is a progressive filly, winning 3 of 5 starts, most recently a listed race at Newbury last month. Looks ready for this step up in grade and is one to consider, with trip unlikely to be an issue.

Bite Of The Cherry is progressive, taking form up another notch when 5-length winner on handicap bow at Newmarket (13f). Only fourth in listed race at York last time, however, and this even tougher

Estimate is a highly progressive filly who followed Salisbury maiden win with easy victory in Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot. Good third to Wild Coco in Lillie Langtry last time and this track should be more suitable.

Gallipot is a well-bred filly who is very much on the up, winning 11f handicaps at Kempton last 2 runs. This a big step up in class, though, and stamina has to be taken on trust.

Hazel Lavery was firmly back on the up when winning soft-ground 1½m Newmarket listed event in July by 3¾ lengths from Dorcas Lane. Disappointed in Lillie Langtry last time, however, and others preferred.

Kailani is a daughter of Kazzia. Made winning start at Yarmouth and dotted up in Newmarket listed race on return. Failed to handle track in Oaks but looked lacklustre in Ribblesdale last time.

Monshak chased home subsequent Irish Oaks victor Great Heavens at Yarmouth on debut before taking Chepstow maiden and 1¾m Chester handicap. Refused to race (visored) last time, however.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Wild Coco
2. Estimate
3. Ambivalent

Timeform View: Sir Henry Cecil (5) and Sir Michael Stoute (4) have won this race 9 times between them over the years, and they both have solid claims of further enhancing their record, saddling Wild Coco and Estimate respectively, the former fancied to come out on top again. Ambivalent is another to consider.

Timeform Daily: Doncaster Cup, Friday 14:20

Saddler's Rock may have disappointed at York, but that was surely a one-off looking at his overall record and he is taken to repeat last year's win...

Timeform look ahead to the Group 2 Doncaster Cup, staged over two and a quarter miles at 14:20...

Colour Vision is an improved performer in 2012, backing up his Group 3 Sagaro Stakes success with a gutsy display to land Group 1 Ascot Gold Cup. Third under a penalty in Goodwood Cup since, and concedes weight again.

Aaim To Prosper is a smart performer, runner-up in a listed race at Sandown 2 starts back, though form still falls short of what is required in this. Also has to put a very poor effort in the Goodwood Cup behind him.

Askar Tau won this race in 2009 and has run to a similar level on a couple of occasions this term, including when second to Saddler's Rock in the Goodwood Cup. One of lesser efforts at York last time.

High Jinx is a progressive 4-y-o, winning handicap at Newmarket in June and finishing a fine second to Times Up in the Lonsdale Cup at York last time. Extra 2f shouldn't be a problem and one to consider.

Hurricane Higgins was seemingly stimulated all round by unique test when narrowly landing a 21f handicap at Goodwood in August, and also ran well when third in similar event there last time. This looks much tougher, however.

Masked Marvel made great strides in 2011, winning 3 times, including St Leger. Largely disappointing in 2012, however, running poorly dropped to Group 3 level at Newbury last time. Blinkers now tried.

Saddler's Rock has developed into a high-class stayer, landing Doncaster Cup last autumn and the Goodwood Cup in August. Rare disappointing effort in the Lonsdale last time but still sets the standard here.

Times Up got back to best for in-form yard when winning the Lonsdale Cup at York in August by 2¼ lengths from High Jinx. 2f longer trip no concern with conditions on the quick side and a major contender.

Never Can Tell enjoyed an excellent 2011, rounding off with victory in Cesarewitch. Has made the frame only once this season, however, and biting off more than she can chew up in this grade.

Repeater had a busy campaign at 2, winning twice, and in the frame in handicaps all 3 starts this term at up to 13f. Will need to improve significantly for the longer trip in order to be involved.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Saddler's Rock
2. High Jinx
3. Times Up

Timeform Verdict: Last year's Leger winner Masked Marvel has plenty to prove at present and is passed over. Saddler's Rock may have disappointed at York, but that was surely a one-off looking at his overall record and he is taken to repeat last year's win. High Jinx and Times Up could give him most to do.

Timeform Daily: Monday, Newcastle 15:00

The well-bred Almost Gemini is a potential blot on the handicap back from a break and gets the vote...

Timeform take a runner-by-runner look at a staying handicap at Newcastle on Monday...

Petella won twice last season and now back on her last winning mark. Not seen to best effect when fifth at Musselburgh recently (sent off favourite) and better expected on this stiffer course.

Descaro won twice in 2011 but has left the impression he's merely been going through the motions of late. Is potentially well handicapped if a first-time hood helps get his mind back on job, though.

Jawaab is potentially well treated and promise when placed on both starts for new yard in recent weeks, second to Looks Like Rain over 2m at Wolverhampton last time. Obvious chance off same mark.

Grand Art was twice successful over hurdles in 2011 and back to winning ways on Flat when scoring by 5 lengths at Musselburgh (2m) last week. Player under penalty if turning up here in similar form.

Hi Dancer got back to best when winning twice over hurdles in the spring and run respectably on Flat since, second to Dr Irv at Redcar (1¾m) last month. Return to 2m should suit and needs considering.

Pegasus Prince is a 3-time winner at Southwell and won over hurdles/fences for Keith Reveley. Potentially well treated back on Flat but new yard hasn't had a winner since May 2011.

Spiders Star was a fair staying handicapper at her best but not been anywhere near the top of her game so far this term, running no sort of race at Ripon last time. Cheekpieces refitted now.

Manager Mick ran just about his best race to date when fifth in a C&D handicap in May but well held at Carlisle since and refitted visor needs to spark improvement for him to get heavily involved here.

Pugnacious ran best to date when plugging-on second in first-time blinkers at Catterick (1½m) last time. Shapes as if well worth this try up in trip and less exposed than most here.

Almost Gemini was no better than mid-field in 3 1¼m maidens this spring but related to some smart sorts and could prove a totally different proposition upped in trip on return from break (has been gelded).

Asteroid Belt put up just about his best effort for new yard when staying-on third to Sweet Fairnando over 1¾m at Redcar last time. Step up to 2m should suit and can't rule out with cheekpieces now back on.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Almost Gemini
2. Jawaab
3. Hi Dancer

Timeform Verdict: The likes of Jawaab and Hi Dancer look sure to go well, but the well-bred Almost Gemini is a potential blot on the handicap back from a break and gets the vote.

Timeform Daily: Monday, Ffos Las 16:50

Supreme Spirit was better than the result last time and is worth chancing in refitted blinkers (both wins gained in them) with the Makin team back among the winners...

Timeform take a runner-by-runner look at a six furlong handicap at Ffos Las on Monday...

Bouncy Bouncy has been hit and miss since regaining winning thread at Yarmouth (5f) in April, though does go well with cut in the ground and was runner-up off this mark in July so a player if on a going day.

Night Trade won at Wolverhampton in February and back on the scoreboard over C&D in July. Not repeated that form in 3 starts since, however.

Fillionaire made winning debut last October and third in Newbury listed event later that month. Not gone on from that this year, though bit more promise when third of 6 over this trip at Goodwood last time.

Supreme Spirit won twice in 2011, including over C&D in mud. Only run twice so far this season, though better than result last time (not clear run) and yard going bit better all of a sudden. Blinkers back on.

Bella Ophelia was a big improver on fibresand early in year and proved she's as good on turf when second at Newmarket in June. Not repeated that in 3 starts since, though has had excuses on couple of occasions.

Blackdown Fair won Salisbury maiden at 2 yrs. Ran up to best when fourth in 6f AW handicap on return after 14 months off, but below that level at Windsor since and needs to bounce back.

Shes Rosie has gained both her wins gained at Chepstow, keeping on well when getting back on scoreboard over 7f in July. Well held upped to 1m since and now drops back in trip.

Sparking was better than ever when scoring in mud at Hamilton (6f) in July. Drying ground possibly against her when below par over C&D last time and better expected back under more suitable conditions.

Iced Opal improved as 2011 went on, signing off with third in 6f Haydock nursery. Yet to find the frame this season, but wasn't disgraced at Bath last time, and won't need to step up much to figure here.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Supreme Spirit
2. Sparking
3. Bouncy Bouncy

Timeform Verdict: Supreme Spirit was better than the result last time and is worth chancing in refitted blinkers (both wins gained in them) with the Makin team back among the winners. Sparking is also of interest with conditions to suit, while Bouncy Bouncy won't be far away if anywhere near her best.

Timeform Daily: Yorkshire Oaks, Thursday, York 15:40

Three-year-olds have often held the upper hand in this and The Fugue can enhance that record after her impressive display at Glorious Goodwood earlier this month...

Timeform offer a runner-by-runner guide to the Yorkshire Oaks, the feature race on the second day of the Ebor meeting...

Bible Belt quickly made up into a smart filly last year, winning first 3 starts, and better for return when third in Group 3 at Leopardstown 2 weeks ago. More required back up in grade, though.

Shareta is one of the leading middle-distance fillies in France, runner-up in last year's Arc and placed all 3 starts this term, including when second of 4 to Meandre in Group 1 at Saint-Cloud last time.

Wild Coco is unexposed after just 6 career starts, and made a successful return from an absence of nearly a year when winning the Lillie Langtry Stakes at Goodwood. A concern that this may come too soon.

Coquet quickly progressed to a useful level last term and has continued improvement in 2 runs this year, defying penalty at Goodwood before an unluckly in-running sixth in the Oaks. Not dismissed.

Shirocco Star has improved massively this year, finishing an excellent neck second to Was in Oaks before creditable placed efforts in Ribblesdale and Irish Oaks. Sure to give her running again

The Fugue is a smart filly who built on Guineas fourth when landing Musidora here 10 days later. Unlucky when third in Oaks and most impressive when winning Nassau at Goodwood recently. The one to beat.

Was showed marked improvement when landing the Oaks at Epsom, proving a neck too strong for Shirocco Star. Ground/trip against her in Irish Oaks/Nassau next 2 starts and big run can be expected from her now.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. The Fugue
2. Shareta
3. Was

Timeform View: Three-year-olds have often held the upper hand in this and The Fugue can enhance that record after her impressive display at Glorious Goodwood earlier this month. Was can be expected to make more of a race of it this time, while French raider Shareta looks the pick of the older brigade.

Timeform Daily: Great Voltigeur Stakes, Wednesday, York 15:05

Main Sequence sets the standard on his second to Camelot in the Derby and he can capitalise on the drop in grade...

Timeform provide a runner-by-runner guide to what is a fascinating renewal of the Group 2 Great Voltigeur...

Thomas Chippendale is most progressive, taking form up another notch with defeat of Noble Mission and Thought Worthy in King Edward at Royal Ascot last time. Has to concede 3 lb all round here but capable of better still.

Encke is a well-bred sort who has done very little wrong in 4 starts so far, only narrowly defeated by Noble Mission on Group-race debut at Goodwood last time. Another good run on the cards.

Energizer stepped up on previous efforts when landing 1¼m Group 3 at Royal Ascot in June. Snapped up by Godolphin and supplemented for this race since, but will need to improve for longer trip to take this.

Main Sequence won his first 4 starts, notably Lingfield Derby Trial, and went on to finish second to Camelot in the Derby. Didn't have run of race (not clear run) when fourth in Longchamp Group 1 latest. The one to beat.

Noble Mission is a brother to Frankel and is a smart colt in own right, second to Thomas Chippendale at Royal Ascot before edging out Encke in Goodwood Group 3. Interestingly, hood now left off for first time since debut.

Thought Worthy is a brother to St Leger hero Lucarno and quickly made up into smart performer. Behind some of today's rivals in Derby and King Edward last 2 starts, though, and may find odd one too good again.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Main Sequence
2. Encke
3. Energizer

Timeform Verdict: Main Sequence sets the standard on his second to Camelot in the Derby and he can capitalise on the drop in grade. The Godolphin-owned pair of Encke and Energizer can provide the stiffest resistance.

Timeform Daily: Thursday, Haydock 15:10

Touch Gold is a colt firmly on the up and could be hard to pass as he bids for the hat-trick for his in-form yard.

Timeform bring you a runner-by-runner guide to Haydock's class 3 handicap run over a mile...

Compton won 6f Windsor maiden on debut and has been bordering on useful since, finishing a sound fourth to Fast Or Free in Britannia on return. Flopped in heavy going last time and worth another chance.

Van Der Art's profile had a progressive look to it, finishing in frame in handicaps first 3 starts this term. However, blotted copybook when virtually refusing to race at Ascot last time.

Touch Gold made all when breaking his duck in 1m maiden at Newmarket and made every post a winning one again when decisively landing a 9f Yarmouth handicap since. 10 lb higher now but remains of interest.

Satanic Beat gained reward for some solid efforts when bagging a 1m Pontefract handicap in June, and stepped forward again when beating a subsequent winner at Ripon last time. Should give another good account.

Ellaal was an expensive yearling who stepped up on debut when winning hot 7f maiden at Newmarket at 2. Well held in sales race there on return in April and not seen since, but too early to write off.

Jack Who's He won first 2 starts at 2 yrs and not discredited upped in class thereafter, including when twice placed in handicaps this year. More exposed than most, though.

Andalieb is an unexposed colt who romped home in 1m Doncaster handicap in June from subsequent winner, hanging left but well in control. Run best ignored next time and comes into the reckoning.

Just Fabulous was a winner of a maiden and a minor event (both over 7f) both starts in 2011. Patchy form in handicaps this term, however, and likely to find this too competitive.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Touch Gold
2. Satanic Beat
3. Ellaal

Timeform View: Touch Gold is a colt firmly on the up and could be hard to pass as he bids for the hat-trick for his in-form yard. Satanic Beat is thriving at the moment and rates a danger, while market support for the unexposed Ellaal would look significant on his return from a lay-off.

Timeform Daily: Monday, Ayr 16:05

Dubai Dynamo can race off a 2 lb lower mark than when an excellent second at Ripon last time, and makes by far the most appeal...

Timeform offer a runner-by-runner guide to a mile handicap at Ayr...

Dubai Dynamo is a tough handicapper who was back to winning ways at Ripon (1m) in May. In frame 4 times since, and excellent neck second over same C&D a week ago. Races off 2 lb lower mark now, and much respected.

Oriental Scot was back to best when winning at Haydock in May, and again suited by strong pace with narrow defeat over 9f at Musselburgh next time. Undone by further rise in weights at Windsor early this month.

Extraterrestial is a hold-up handicapper who is generally thereabouts but hard to win with. Not at best on last 2 outings, and his losing run now stands at 14. Percentage call remains to oppose.

Colour Guard was largely progressive in 4 starts at Southwell, winning 3 times at up to 1m. Creditable fourth of 7 at Ripon last month, but found nothing last time. Opposable.

Sam Nombulist opened his account in a visor at Doncaster (7f) in November, and improved to bag another big-field handicap at York last month, although had run of race. Well below form at Carlisle last time.

Paramour landed a 1m Pontefract maiden last August and bounced back to take 7f handicap at Newmarket last month. Well below form in 2 starts since, though, and now tried in cheekpieces.

Karaka Jack won big-field 7f handicap at York last July and at Doncaster on return in April. Back to form when third of 13 at Sandown last month, but failed to fire when mid-field at Carlisle last time.

Staff Sergeant produced a number of creditable efforts in defeat last year and improved to win over 9f at Musselburgh in May. Below form since, although more chance he can dominate here, and not ruled out entirely.

Dhaular Dhar was a surprise winner of big-field handicap at Doncaster (1¼m) in October, and better effort this year when sixth of 11 at Chester (10.3f) last time. Left with plenty to do there, and may do better.

Indepub surpassed 2-y-o form when runner-up to Eastern Destiny in 9.8f Ripon handicap in May, and back to winning ways in 4-runner affair at Newcastle last time. Would have claims if securing early lead.

Timeform Verdict:
1. Dubai Dynamo
2. Indepub
3. Staff Sergeant

Timeform View: Dubai Dynamo can race off a 2 lb lower mark than when an excellent second at Ripon last time, and makes by far the most appeal. Indepub and Staff Sergeant can both go from the front, and would have claims if not cutting each other's throats.

Timeform Daily: Grand National, Saturday, Aintree 16:15

Race of the Day RSS / / 14 April 2012 / Leave a Comment

Who will win the Grand National?

Who will win the Grand National?

"Cappa Bleu's strong-travelling style should stand him in good stead at Aintree and he is very much one for the shortlist..."

Timeform run the rule over the runners for the most famous race in the world, the Grand National at Aintree...

Synchronised (Jonjo O'Neill/Tony McCoy) has history against him as no Gold Cup winner has followed up at Aintree since 1934, but it should be noted that he's one of the better-handicapped runners in the field, whilst he's also clearly not dependent on the mud to show his best nowadays. That said, his idiosyncratic jumping technique isn't ideal for Aintree and could see him getting further back than ideal.

Ballabriggs (Donald McCain/Jason Maguire) is another runner hoping to overcome bleak historical trends, as there have been only two back-to-back Grand National winners in the last 142 years. In truth, a 10 lb higher mark than when winning the 2011 renewal looks the biggest obstacle to overcome but, given how well he took to the course then, it wouldn't be the biggest surprise to see him make another bold bid.

Weird Al (Donald McCain/Timmy Murphy) was better than ever upon joining this yard in the autumn, winning the Charlie Hall at Wetherby and finishing a fine third behind Kauto Star in the Betfair Chase. His training problems clearly aren't a thing of the past, however, and it's difficult to fancy himfollowing a miserable effort in the Gold Cup last time (reportedly broke a blood vessel).

Neptune Collonges (Paul Nicholls/Daryl Jacob) is still capable of high-class formdespite his advancing years, good placed efforts under big weights at Sandown and Haydock (runner-up to Giles Cross) last two starts. Not handicapped out of things and has a racing style that could be well suited to this course.

Calgary Bay (Henrietta Knight/Dominic Elsworth) got no further than the fourth in 2011 National, but is usually a very safe conveyance. Doubtful stayer over 4½m, though, whilst he's also plenty high enough in the weights following back-to-back wins at Cheltenham and Doncaster.

Alfa Beat (John Joseph Hanlon/Davy Russell) won second successive Kerry National back in the autumn, but seems too high in the weights now as a result, whilst he didn't take to these fences when a faller in last year's Topham.

Planet of Sound (Philip Hobbs/Richard Johnson) handles top of the ground well and has returned with typically honest placed efforts in the Hennessy at Newbury and Racing Plus Chase at Kempton this term. Hasn't got anything in hand of the handicapper, though, and stamina also to prove over this marathon trip.

Black Apalachi (Dessie Hughes/Denis O'Regan) was a runaway winner of 2008 Becher Chase, who also cut a very bold sight over these fences when runner-up to Don't Push It off this mark in 2010 National. Now thirteen, but signs of retaining much of that ability when a keeping-on second to Prince de Beauchene at Fairyhouse on recent comeback and shouldn't be written off, particularly as Denis O'Regan has opted to renew his association with him instead of riding Giles Cross.

Deep Purple (Evan Williams/Jamie Moore) coped surprisingly well with longer trip when winning London National at Sandown in December, but has shaped as if amiss on most other starts in recent seasons.

Junior (David Pipe/Tom Scudamore) has been trained with this race inmind ever since running away with last season's KimMuir at Cheltenham.Warmed up with a narrow second to Ikorodu Road (winner since) at Doncaster last time and clearly warrants respect, though it's possible he neither travels nor jumps quite fluently enough for this unique test.

Chicago Grey (Gordon Elliott/Paul Carberry) is a thorough stayer who won 2011 National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham and has been campaigned with this race in mind since, with the booking of Paul Carberry clearly an asset over these fences. Exaggeratedwaiting tactics adopted on himearlier in the season not certain to suit here, though.

Tatanen (Richard Rowe/Andrew Thornton) won valuable 21f handicap for second successive year at Ascot in January, but he is high in the weights as a result and has stamina to prove for this kind of test.

Seabass (Ted Walsh/Katie Walsh) represents the same stable as 2000 National winner Papillon, and heads to Aintree on an upward curve too, having won each of his last six starts, the latest one coming in a Grade 2 event over 2m. This marathon trip a completely unknown quantity with him, though.

Shakalakaboomboom (Nicky Henderson/Barry Geraghty) took well to these fences when seventh in the 2011 Topham as a novice and has progressed nicely since then, winning twice prior to finishing a fine second to Calgary Bay at Doncaster in January. Now 5 lb higher in theweights and suitability for this extreme test not guaranteed.

West End Rocker (Alan King/Wayne Hutchinson) took a luckless exit in 2011 National, but coped fine with these fences when runawaywinner of Becher Chase under very testing conditions in December. Seems sure to stay, though 12 lb higher mark a major concern.

According To Pete (Malcolm Jefferson/Harry Haynes) has been in fine form of late, won valuable handicaps atWetherby and Haydock prior to finishing a good second in Kelso minor event last time (Ballabriggs back in fourth). Needs more improvement now, however.

On His Own (Willie Mullins/Ruby Walsh) confirmed himself a much-improved performer for new stable (formerly with Howard Johnson) when running out a wide-margin winner of Thyestes Chase at Gowran in late-January. Much higher in weights now, however, whilst his jumping hasn't always looked the most assured.

Always Right (John Wade/James Reveley) is a sure-footed jumper who's capable of smart form on his day, including when winning at Kelso on his reappearance. Has undergone a breathing operation since flopping on both starts since, so could well get involved if that's done the trick.

Cappa Bleu (Evan Williams/Paul Moloney) is the 2009 Cheltenham Foxhunter winner who's done well since returning from a lengthy absence this winter, winning at Haydock prior to decent placed efforts at Chepstow (behind Le Beau Bai and Giles Cross) and Ascot (arguably should have won). His strong-travelling style should stand him in good stead at Aintree and very much one for the shortlist.

Rare Bob (Dessie Hughes/Bryan Cooper) doesn't seem quite the force of old this term, despite more encouraging efforts of late, whilst his remote fifth in the Becher Chase back in December suggests he'll have stamina limitations over this trip for all he took pretty well to the fences.

Organisedconfusion (Arthur Moore/Nina Carberry) proved a revelation when upped markedly in trip to win the 2011 Irish National (with Sunnyhillboy back in third). Has kept his powder dry back over shorter (including over hurdles) since then, and remains very much unexposed over marathon trips.

Treacle (Tom Taaffe/Andrew Lynch) is lightly raced, though better than ever this winter and looked well worth trying over this sort of trip when runner-up to Cross Appeal in valuable handicap at Leopardstown over Christmas. Even better formwhen staying-on third in Irish Hennessy there last time and potentially well treated on that effort.

The Midnight Club (Willie Mullins/Paul Townend) didn't take to the course so well as expected when favourite for the 2011 renewal (eventually finished sixth after being hampered four out) and simply hasn't looked at the top of his game this time around, so others preferred.

Mon Mome (Venetia Williams/Aidan Coleman) was the 100/1 winner of the 2009 renewal, but faller at the fifth last twelve months later and it increasingly looks as if he needs everything to fall his way nowadays, so a well-run National could see him getting further back than ideal.

Arbor Supreme (Jonjo O'Neill/Mark Walsh) was a smart chaser in his prime for Willie Mullins, but has promised little in two runs over hurdles for current yard. He has failed to complete in the last two renewals of this race, so others are readily preferred.

Sunnyhillboy (Jonjo O'Neill/Richie McLernon) showed plenty of stamina when third (after a troubled passage) in last year's Irish National and did so again to win the Kim Muir at Cheltenham last month, rallying splendidly to beat Becauseicouldntsee. His jumping isn't the issue it once was and he cannot be ignored from a handicapping viewpoint.

Killyglen (Stuart Crawford/Robbie Power) was still close up when falling four out in last year's National but doesn't always see his races out thoroughly and that tempers enthusiasm here, despite a recent win at Down Royal.

Quiscover Fontaine (Willie Mullins/David Casey) does most of his racing over much shorter trips, though showed decent stamina reserves when fourth in last year's Irish National. Looks plenty high enough in the weights at present and his stable looks to have better options elsewhere.

Tharawaat (Gordon Elliott/Brian O'Connell) was back to his best when winning at Galway in October (2¾m) but has not shown a lot since then, and has stamina to prove here (never raced over further than 3m).

Becauseicouldntsee (Noel Glynn/Davy Condon) is a giant gelding who ticks plenty of boxes for a race such as this, given he's an out-and-out stayer with good recent form to his name (runner-up to Sunnyhillboy at Cheltenham last time). He does, however, have a few falls on his CV, including when crashing out at the second in the 2011 National.

State of Play (Evan Williams/Noel Fehily) is a likeable veteran who's made the frame in each of the last three Grand Nationals, his keeping-on fourth behind Ballabriggs last year coming after a twelve-month absence (which he's had again this time). Now twelve, and feeling is his chance has passed.

Swing Bill (David Pipe/Conor O'Farrell) was an honourable fifth in last year's Topham but didn't seem to enjoy the experience so much when tackling these fences for a second time back in December and relatively easy to oppose here.

Postmaster (Tim Vaughan/Dougie Costello) is a hold-up sort who can find little, but ended a long losing run at Bangor in August (25f) and also landed a 2½m hunter chase at Ludlow recently. He was a first fence faller in the Topham last year, has stamina to prove, and he doesn't look all that well treated at the weights.

Giles Cross (Victor Dartnall/Paddy Brennan) has proved admirably consistent in valuable long-distance handicap chases over the past fifteen months, finishing runner-up twice in the Welsh National as well as winning the Southern National at Fontwell and the Grand National Trial at Haydock this term. His front-running style often suits this race and definitely one to consider should the ground ride soft or heavy.

Midnight Haze (Kim Bailey/Sean Quinlan) is a sure-footed front runner who can boast a decent wins-to-runs ratio in recent seasons, but rather had his limitations exposed in the CheltenhamFestival cross-country chase last time and could also have stamina issues over this trip.

Vic Venturi (Dessie Hughes/Harry Skelton) has endured wretched luck in last two renewals of the Grand National (brought down early last time), but didn't look a natural over these fences even when winning the 2009 Becher and has something to prove after flopping in a hunter chase last time.

In Compliance (Dessie Hughes/Niall Madden) is a veteran who has some classy older form to his name, but finished well behind Killyglen at Down Royal last time and was soundly beaten in this race last year, so makes little appeal.

Viking Blond (Nigel Twiston-Davies/Brian Hughes) received a good ride when making all on chase debut at Chepstow (3m) in October. He showed similar form in his next two starts over that trip, but not in the same form the last twice and lack of experience is a concern.

Hello Bud (Nigel Twiston-Davies/Sam Twiston-Davies) was a game fifth in 2010 Grand National and won Becher back here later that year. Was running another big race prior to unseating at the Canal Turn in latest renewal of the Becher in December, but he's shaped as if old age is catching up with him on most other starts since then.

Neptune Equester (Brian Ellison/Felix de Giles) was suited by the stamina test faced when winning over 3½m at Haydock in November. Not in same form since, however, and others look much likelier racing from 5 lb out of the weights.

Any Currency (Martin Keighley/RESERVE) is a thorough stayer who hasn't seen much action since his last success in November 2009. Has not been at his best this season and makes little appeal from 6 lb out of the handicap.

Our Island (Tim Vaughan/RESERVE) is a point/hurdles winner who stuck to his task when second in a handicap at Haydock in December. Set stiff tasks when below form in cheekpieces on his last 3 starts, though, and 7 lb out of the weights here.

Abbeybraney (George Bewley/RESERVE) has only been seen 5 times since winning a novice for Howard Johnson in December 2009, recording his best effort of season when third in Kelso conditions event latest, but is 9 lb out of the weights here.

Smoking Aces (Tom Taaffe/RESERVE) is a thorough stayer who responded well to blinkers when winning at Fairyhouse (29f) in December. Not in quite the same form since, and is 9 lb out of the handicap with cheekpieces replacing the blinkers.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Cappa Bleu
2. Black Apalachi
3. Neptune Collonges

Timeform View: Trainer Evan Williams and owner William Rucker have been placed in the last three Nationals with State of Play, and their perseverance could be rewarded this year, not by that one but by Cappa Bleu, who has plenty about him to think he'll take to this course and is among the best handicapped in the field, too. Black Apalachi will be ignored by the trends followers given that he's now thirteen, but few are as effective around here as he looks overpriced. Other honourable mentions go to Sunnyhillboy, Neptune Collonges and Organisedconfusion.

Timeform Daily: Lincoln Handicap, Saturday, Doncaster 15:15

Race of the Day RSS / / 30 March 2012 / Leave a Comment

Can Fury (grey) bounce back and again lead home a big field?

Can Fury (grey) bounce back and again lead home a big field?

"Fury lost his way towards the end of 2011 but is potentially well treated as a result and, having been gelded, is worth siding with..."

Timeform take a look at the runners for a typically competitive Lincoln Handicap, run over Town Moor's straight mile...

Edinburgh Knight thrived in 2011, signing off with success in 1m listed race at Kempton. Strong traveller who may do even better this year and has good record fresh.

Eton Forever ran away with Spring Mile here on last year's reappearance. Fine efforts in strong handicaps last 2 starts, behind Man of Action over C&D second occasion. Still unexposed and leading claims.

Smarty Socks won 2 big-field 7f handicaps last summer but just as effective over 1m. Has won fresh, but needs a career best to land this on return.

Man of Action improved again upon joining Godolphin, winning competitive C&D handicap at the St Leger meeting. Not at best in 2 runs at Meydan this year, however, and change of headgear needs to do trick.

Start Right was a useful performer for Luca Cumani, making frame in competitive events on 3 of 4 starts in 2011 and carried on in similar vein for Godolphin at Meydan in recent months. Visored first time here.

Mia's Boy is a hold-up performer who won 2 of last 3 starts in 2011, adding to good record here first occasion. Ran a blinder and not beaten far at Wolverhampton last time and place claims at big price.

Field of Dream has not won since days with Luca Cumani in 2010. Respectable effort for new yard at Meydan on return but way more needed to prevail here.

Cocozza won 7f Cork maiden at 2 yrs for John Oxx and signed off last season with 2 good efforts over 1¼m. Been well backed ahead of return/handicap debut for new trainer and unexposed.

Pintura was placed 4 times in valuable turf handicaps last season. Weighted to the hilt now, though, and poor effort behind several of these on reappearance at Wolverhampton.

Fury was unbeaten at 2 yrs, landing valuable sales race. Nose second to Tazahum highlight of disappointing 2011, but no surprise to see him prove different proposition this year having been gelded.

Askaud won class 3 fillies handicaps at Goodwood and Haydock (10.5f) last summer. Found listed company too strong final 2 starts and this looks too tough on reappearance.

Lowther was kept busy by Alan Bailey last year, winning twice at Wolverhampton and generally holding form well. Shown nothing in 2 runs at Dubai Carnival for current yard, though.

Clockmaker won twice at end of 2011 and solid efforts in defeat on polytrack since, third in listed race last time. Weighted right up to his best on return to a handicap, though.

Mull of Killough often shaped well for Richard Fahey and opened account for new yard at first attempt in 1m Lingfield handicap in January. Interesting on his third off current mark in this in 2010.

Brae Hill is a tactically versatile sort who raced alone on the stands' side when capturing the 7f Bunbury Cup last summer. Disappointing after, but second on return in this last year off same mark.

Don't Call Me signed off 2011 with success in 1m Ayr handicap on soft ground, responding well to refitting of tongue tie. Returns on career-high mark and others more persuasive.

Light From Mars won last year's Newbury Spring Cup (1m) for David Nicholls. 2 lb below that mark now and shaped encouragingly on return at Wolverhampton. Conditions will suit and an interesting contender.

Stevie Thunder's victories in 1m handicaps last summer preceded second in Cambridgeshire. Ran well in minor event when last seen in October but career best needed to make successful return in this.

Shavansky is a slow starter who posted couple of good efforts after taking 1m Chepstow handicap last summer. Not too harshly treated on return but would be surprise winner.

Amitola was as good as ever when making all in 1m Lingfield handicap in February, but come up short off revised mark twice since and this is even tougher.

Barren Brook won at York (9f) and here (1¼m) last summer and couple of creditable runs after. Seemingly hiding nothing from handicapper on return, though, and needed reappearance last season.

Dubai Dynamo ran well off higher marks in some competitive handicaps last season and some promise to take from 2 runs on polytrack in recent weeks. Not hard to make stronger case for others, though.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Fury
2. Cocozza
3. Eton Forever

Timeform View: A typically competitive Lincoln. Fury lost his way towards the end of 2011 but is potentially well treated as a result and, having been gelded, is worth siding with to continue his yard's fine record in the race. The unexposed Cocozza is interesting on debut for Marco Botti, while the likes of Eton Forever, Mull of Killough, Light From Mars and Mia's Boy should all go well.
