Folkestone is the scene of Monday's placepot.
"...the one that really stands out is Hunt Ball, who looked a lot better than a 69-rated horse for a long way on his first start for the Rodford/Burke team at Cheltenham in April..."
Today's placepot comes from Folkestone...
12:30 - The only interesting ones in this are the top two, Shipboard Romance and Marju King, the former because Jim Best might improve her, the latter because he's well in on his Flat form and shaped better than the result at Hereford last time.
13:00 - The only way My Faithful Annie can win this is if the other two fall, and while that will probably result in a monster placepot dividend, it's unlikely enough that you'll be safe taking Temple Lord and Lifestyle, both of whom are potentially useful chasers.
13:30 - Ohio Gold has spurned enough chances to think he's not a bombproof odds-on short in the maiden hurdle, but if he jumps around and doesn't go amiss he's a good thing to place and is an obvious banker.
14:00 - This is interesting so far as 0-95 handicaps go, with the first four in the market all catching the eye for one reason or another. That said, the one that really stands out is Hunt Ball, who looked a lot better than a 69-rated horse for a long way on his first start for the Rodford/Burke team at Cheltenham in April, jumping well out in front before his relative lack of ability told against fairly useful rivals. He's getting plenty of weight from all today's rivals and is probably worth risking as a banker given that he could be miles ahead of his mark.
14:35 - Storm Survivor always looked the sort that would be brought along with handicaps in mind and the chances are today is the day for him with McCoy taking over for the first time since his debut. He's the obvious one to be with in a race that probably won't take much winning.
15:10 - Gemini Jim is interesting upped markedly in trip and switched to fences for his handicap debut after three quickfire runs in novice hurdles, but there are better options to be found elsewhere for placepot purposes, namely Reblis and Reymysterio, both of whom are fairly handicapped on their best form.
