Newmarket stages it's Classic trials today.
"Back on the Flat in a weaker grade than she usually contests today Blue Nymph is potentially thrown in off a mark of 67..."
Three selections for Wednesday's racing from the Timeform Free Form Website.
Newmarket throws open its doors for 2011 and could offer an early chance to see a Royal Ascot winner in the five-furlong conditions event, with Monsieur Chevalier (2009), Art Connoisseur (2008), and Gilded (2006) all recent victors who have gone on to success at the Royal meeting. Richard Hannon has dominated proceedings in the last decade and it would be no surprise to see Tell Dad go close on debut, particularly if backed, but given the impression The Dancing Lord (14.25) made at Folkestone last week it's hard to oppose Bill Turner's colt who looks open to further improvement. The son of Imperial Dancer blitzed the field on that occasion and was value for more than the six-length verdict.
Madamlily and Bonfire Knight have both made successful returns to the Flat from hurdling for John Quinn in recent weeks and Blue Nymph (16.20) could be set to do the same at Catterick this afternoon. The five-year-old has dropped a long way in the weights after a disappointing campaign on the level last year, but showed her well-being with an impressive success in a mares' handicap hurdle at Doncaster last month that's thrown up a couple of subsequent winners. Back on the Flat in a weaker grade than she usually contests today Blue Nymph is potentially thrown in off a mark of 67.
With the thriving Straboe a non-runner in the five-furlong handicap at Kempton that throws the door open for Fair Passion (18.30) who really caught the eye over course and distance last week. On that occasion Fair Passion kept on really well to get to within a length and a half of Island Legend having been caught wide, edging out Estonia, with Grudge a long way behind. She's dropped back to her last winning mark and can take advantage from a plum draw this evening.
