A field of seven will face the starter for the Betfair Ascot Chase
"Pride of Dulcote remains a chaser of serious potential, but a drop in trip won't play to his strengths. The same could be said about Riverside Theatre, but his form is far superior at this stage and he is nonetheless given the nod, with Tartak perhaps the chief threat."

Big Fella Thanks produced a smart performance when landing a 2½m handicap at Newbury last March prior to having his stamina stretched in the Grand National. He fell early in the Hennessy last time, and faces a tall order on these terms.
Deep Purple made further progress as a chaser when winning his first two starts last season. He lost nothing in defeat when bidding to land the Charlie Hall again this term, but often shapes as if having a problem these days.
Gauvain was much improved when making a winning return for his new stable at Cheltenham in November. He has not been in the same form behind Master Minded both starts since, and it is easier to make a case for others now up in trip.
Pride of Dulcote's novice campaign over fences was cut short, but he showed no ill-effects from a lay-off when beating Punchestowns at Newbury in December. He is likely to go on to better things, but the drop in trip is a worry here.
Racing Demon is a top-class chaser at best. He has shown he can still be competitive in handicaps over hurdles in recent times, but faces an altogether stiffer assignment back at this level.
Riverside Theatre is a smart hurdler who has gone on progressing since switched to fences, relishing the step up to 3m when finding only Long Run too good in the King George. He steps back in trip here but is still the one to beat.
Tartak has responded well to the fitting of tongue strap, winning the Peterborough Chase and a Grade 3 handicap at Cheltenham around this trip. He has not always been the most reliable, but is clearly in good heart at present.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Riverside Theatre
2. Tartak
3. Pride of Dulcote
