National Hunt racing takes the focus of Tuesday's Placepot with selections at Sedgefield

"The final race of the afternoon is a tricky looking handicap hurdle and probably the most difficult race to predict on the Sedgefield card..."

Joe Szekeres tackles the placepot at Sedgefield, where he tries to keep lines to a minimum...

13:00 - Bound For Glory looks the most solid option in the opener and he is some 5 lb clear of his nearest rival based on Timeform ratings. He impressed on his debut last month, sticking to his task well once headed in a similar contest over at Carlisle, and he should be able to build upon that display given that this is just his second run under rules, while he also has the useful Henry Brooke takeing 3 lb off. There is an outside chance that the favourite could underperform over a trip that may prove inadequate in time, so we will also take Ravens Secret .

13:30 - Trustan Times is a banker in the Beginners' Chase based on the ability he showed in two starts over hurdles last season. The pick of his form included a useful display when finishing second behind Moonlight Drive at Wetherby and he looks the sort to develop into a good chaser given his style and pedigree.

14:00 - Countrywide Flame has demonstrated form well in excess of the standard usually required to win a race of this nature and, if reproducing his best, then he has to go close.

14:30 - Authentic Act is the third banker in quick succession. He shaped as if in need of the run last time out after a three-month absence, but the form of his win over course and distance in June has worked out particularly well and he should give another good account of himself today.

15:00 - Riskier is Timeform top rated for the fifth leg, but there are doubts regarding his ability to fully see out the 3m 3f trip and, as a result, we're going to take him on with two selections. Finbin is a thorough stayer who should be suited by the test, having won over course and distance back in 2010, whilst Frontier Boy could be a staying chaser on the upgrade having improved on his two latest chasing starts.

15:30 - The final race of the afternoon is a tricky-looking handicap hurdle and probably the most difficult race to predict on the Sedgefield card. If we get this far, we're going to want three representing us in the last and the trio that get the nod are Tinseltown (has been lowered 3 lb in the weights despite finishing third on last two starts), Funky Munky (should improve for the drop down in trip), and Sydney Cove (could be a lot better than his current mark based on his juvenile form from 2009).

Selections
13:00 - 2, 8
13:30 - 7
14:00 - 1
14:30 - 3
15:00 - 1, 4

= 12 Lines
