Bath is the venue for today's Placepot.
"Native Colony is preferred from the pair that head the betting with Birdwatcher having had consistency issues."
The calm after the storm. After a fantastic day at Ascot where Frankel edged closer to proving himself to be the greatest of all time and this column landed a winning 'pot, we're off to the more humble surroundings of Bath for today's bet.
1:30 - Glyn Ceiriog is still a maiden and many not be entirely straightforward, but that hasn't stopped her proving a very solid place proposition as she's hit the frame on three of her last four starts. It's hard to see her not on the premises once more despite swapping cheekpieces for a visor.
2:00 - An open sprint and no shortage of pace and that will suit course winners Bateleur, who's been knocking on the door of late, and Welcome Approach, who didn't get the run of things on polytrack last time.
2:30 - Larwood's staying-on fifth to Indian Tinker in a Sandown maiden looks by far the most solid piece of form, and with him shaping better than the result from a poor position at Haydock last time it will be a surprise if he doesn't bounce back to his best under these conditions.
3:05 - Native Colony is preferred from the pair that head the betting with Birdwatcher having had consistency issues and he isn't bred for this sort of test. Dark And Dangerous is worth including too as a course winner who shaped as if a step up to this trip will suit him well at Folkestone last time.
3:35 - Exceedance sets the standard and has the Timeform 'P' indicating the potential for significant improvement, but he's not been seen since May and has a first-time tongue strap applied so it may pay to take him on. Yeeoow and Sheer Vanity are the clear pick of others with experience and both are included.
4:10 - Hard to be confident with most of the field having a chance of some sort. Peachez has done really well since joining her current yard and her latest second at Windsor last time suggests she could still be on the upgrade. Zamina found a bit more for the step up to this sort of trip at Wolverhampton last time and should be thereabouts once again.

Wales vs France in the Rugby World Cup. Liverpool vs Man Utd. British Champions Day. The X Factor. It doesn't get much better than that on a Saturday, but it will if we can land the placepot at Ascot......
In little more than 24 hours time a true great will once again take centre stage, the excitement is intangible and Timeform's Frankel correspondent, Jamie Lynch, is barely able to control himself. But enough about Johnny's latest X Factor performance, here is the placepot from Haydock....
Today's placepot comes from Uttoxeter.........
