Frank Lampard makes no mistake from the penalty spot
"There were seven bookings in the match despite it not being a dirty game in the slightest and one of them was for Wayne Rooney, which rules him out of England’s next game at home to Switzerland."
England did enough to beat Wales this afternoon and are closing in on qualification for Euro 2012.
England put in a professional display this afternoon as they beat Wales 2-0 in Cardiff.
It was a match with limited chances in which England scored two early goals and just managed their lead from that point onwards. Frank Lampard opened the scoring from the penalty spot after being matched at [9.8] in the first goalscorer market when Ashley Young was brought down and Darren Bent added a second after good work from Young again, this time crossing from the right. Aston Villa man Bent was matched at [4.8] to score at anytime.
There were seven bookings in the match despite it not being a dirty game in the slightest and one of them was for Wayne Rooney, which rules him out of England's next game at home to Switzerland.
There was also a rare clean sheet for England, backed at [2.12]. Fabio Capello's men were matched at a high of [1.56] during the week in the match odds market and are virtually nailed on for qualification to Euro 2012; they trade at just 1.07 to make it to the tournament.
As ever, despite never really threatening to win a major tournament, England are fancied for success and are the fourth favourites at 9.8. Spain (4.7), Germany (5.7) and the Netherlands (7.8) are ahead of them in the betting.
