A Green Paper was recently published by the European Union on the feasibility of online gambling, including online poker. A Green Paper is a basis for drafting a law and allows for discussion among lawmakers in European Union countries. Member nations such as Sweden, Italy and France have all made inroads into allowing online poker games and regulating them in order to both provide a safe forum for poker players and also bring in revenue. According to the Financial Times fewer than15 percent of online gaming websites in Europe are regulated, and there are almost 15,000 of those.
