With day two of the Ebor Meeting nearly upon us we take a snapshot of the markets to see where Betfair customers' early money has been going
Many punters would have had the rare treat of enjoying racing without any financial interest as Frankel lit up the Ebor meeting with another stunning performance. That's all well and good, but today we put the Pegasus memories to one side and it's back to the business we all get up in the morning for...the war of opinions that is exchange betting.
There are a couple of Group races to get our teeth into today, both are bubbling along nicely with more than £400,000 already matched in the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks and £220,000 matched on the Group 2 Lowther Stakes.

The Lowther Stakes at 14:30 seems more straightforward with a rock-solid favourite Newfangled dominating the market, (more than £50,000 matched at a single price 2.01/1 alone). In spite of this market confidence there has been a noticeable move for the James Fanshawe-trained Badr al Badoor 8.07/1 from 11.010/1, so this once-raced filly could be on the upgrade, and looks destined for a place on the podium at least.
Two Group races; two strong favourites. If both do the business it could be a long and painful afternoon for layers. Luckily for them the card also features our very own Betfair Don't Settle For Less Handicap at 15:05.
This wide-open handicap over a mile is a layer's paradise and is right up there in terms of liquidity with more than £200,000 matched. Punters, however, are fumbling in the dark - going as they are, 9.08/1 the field. Also confusing matters are the likely flip-flopping favourites with Kahruman currently uneasy 8.88/1 from 7.26/1 and Anderiego strengthening from 11.010/1 in to 9.08/1. A couple of the runners are very much on the slide, Vainglory 46.045/1 from 23.022/1 and Santefisio 50.049/1 from 20.019/1 so you might want to steer clear of those. Most notably moving in the other direction is Crown Counsel 12.5n/a from 17.5n/a so that could be the each-way play.
With such a wide open betting heat, the best plan may be to get out a dart, chuck it at the dartboard and pray. We did and hit double 15, so we might be doubling our normal stake and plunging on Indian Jack. Then again, we might not!
