James Fanshawe has revealed leading Ebor contender High Jinx is not certain to run in the famous York handicap...
The four-year-old son of High Chaparral won a valuable Newmarket prize on his penultimate start and was a leading fancy for the Ebor, having finished second over the course and distance in last month's Silver Cup. However, while a return to York is a possibility, the race is just one of a few options for Fanshawe's colt.
Fanshawe said: "He's in good form, but he is not a certain runner in the Ebor. We have not decided yet what his next destination will be. He'll be entered in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury on Saturday week and that is a possibility as well, so we'll see."
Unsurprisingly, High Jinx's price has drifted on Betfair in light of the news he is not a confirmed participant.
Fanshawe is more certain about the next port of call for his top-class sprinter Society Rock. The five-year-old came fifth behind Black Caviar in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot after badly missing the break and was last seen finishing third in the July Cup.
Next month's Sprint Cup at Haydock is his next target, after which he will aim for October's British Champions Sprint Stakes, a race Fanshawe won last year with the currently sidelined Deacon Blues.
"We gave him a break after the July Cup and the plan is to get him ready for Haydock. After that, the obvious target is the big sprint on Champions Day at Ascot," said Fanshawe.
