Richard Fahey's Pen Bal Crag is fancied in the first at Carlisle.
"Bedlam ... started very slowly and showed clear signs of greenness during the race, making her finishing effort all the more impressive."
Today's Timeform 1-2-3 selections come from this afternoon's meeting at Carlisle.
Richard Fahey may have had a Royal Ascot to forget, but his string showed they remain in good heart after a five-timer on Saturday. Hopefully he will carry forward that fine run of form on to today, as his two-year-old Pen Bal Crag (14:00) is fancied to get off the mark at the third attempt. He has been placed both starts, latterly against a promising juvenile of Kevin Ryan's at York, which saw one of today's rivals, See Clearly well behind. He still looked green on that occasion but the stiffer track will be more to his liking as he has shaped as a horse that will stay six furlongs. If he improves again he is sure to go close in what looks like a weaker contest than last time.
Another horse who shaped with promise at York last time on her debut was Bedlam for Tim Easterby. She started very slowly and showed clear signs of greenness during the race, making her finishing effort all the more impressive. The first two that day are likely to be contesting pattern races in the near future, and with her rivals today nowhere near that standard yet, she looks the likely winner of the 14:30.
Pravda Street showed absolutely nothing for Paul Cole last season, but like a lot of horses he has been rejuvenated under the care of Brian Ellison. He has won both starts for his new trainer over seven furlongs at Newcastle and Ayr on Friday evening (the latter by four and half lengths). Although yet to try a mile he is bred to get it and the manner of his victory last time highlights the step up should pose no problems. He has been handed the widest draw which is not ideal, but the stable took this race last year with Camerooney who was drawn in a similar position.
