"A soft lead looks possible from the inside draw today and I'll be taking a fair chunk of anything bigger than [3.5] with a view to trading out short in running.

In a world where many commentators claim to tell it like it is, Graham Cunningham is the genuine article. If there's little to bet on, he won't fudge. But will today's selection run the run like our man walks the walk?

Today I will be mostly backing Carrowbeg in Ripon's 17:40.

Tlaad is trading at [2.28] for this maiden on the back of a good pedigree and some fancy entries, but it's very hard to know how good Clive Brittain's colt is based on his remote last of six in Chester's Dee Stakes.

By contrast, Carrowbeg has already shown enough to suggest he can win a middling maiden and the form of his front-running fifth at Dundalk has been franked twice recently.

Carrowbeg shaped as if the return to a mile might suit that day. A soft lead looks possible from the inside draw today and I'll be taking a fair chunk of anything bigger than [3.5] with a view to trading out short in running.

I won't waste too much time on the rest of Tuesday's action. Suffice to say good bets are hard to find, although Easy Terms won like an improved horse at Redcar last month and should represent fair each way value again in Ripon's 14:40.

Recommended Bet
Ripon 5.40: Back Carrowbeg at 3.5 or bigger
