"Unanswered had Rowdy Rampage a distance behind when the pair clashed in the race won by Good Egg here in March and they meet on identical terms here."

A really big week of racing in Ireland kicks off with three Bank Holiday meetings and we have got one bet at each.....

Eric McNamara has a tremendous record at Limerick, his local track, and the Rathkeale trainer can take the opener on the card courtesy of Outrageous Request. The winner of a handicap over fourteen furlongs at Sandown last year when trained by Pat Eddery, Outrageous Request made an encouraging start over hurdles at Fairyhouse last week, staying on well from an unpromising position to finish a never-nearer fourth to Sicilian Secret. He is sure to have derived plenty of benefit from that and is taken to improve past Rockshandy, who isn't certain to be suited by this shorter trip, and Prince Chapparal, who finished third in a very weak race at Cork in January.

Notgonnagiveup shaped really well on her return to action last month (her sole start for Mrs C. O'Leary), making up around five/six lengths in the final furlong to snatch an unlikely second in the race won by West Coast Dream, and she looks worth an interest here with the extra furlong likely to suit. Notgonnagiveup has only gone up two pounds for that, is well drawn in stall sixteen, acts on most types of ground and has the bang in-form Niall McCullagh on her back.

The hunter chase at Down Royal is a race that is unlikely to live long in the memory but I think it represents one of the best punting opportunities of the day as on all known form Unanswered really should be favourite. Sneezy Foster's gelding finished second in an orthodox maiden chase at Limerick back in July and has won a brace of points since but his latest run is the most relevant piece of form here. Unanswered had Rowdy Rampage a distance behind when the pair clashed in the race won by Good Egg here in March and they meet on identical terms here. Therefore, it is difficult to understand why Rowdy Rampage is a shorter price.

Those looking at the Chester Cup on Wednesday could be forgiven for mistaking it for another famous handicap, with the names of no less than three Grand National winning trainers appearing alongside horses towards the top of the betting, but Timeform's Mark Powell-Bevan reckons it's better to concentrate on the Irish-trained contingent......
