Just about the most powerful partnership in the business

"We finish at Newbury where in the 17:05 Broomfield has been well backed for the powerful Paul Nicholls/Ruby Walsh combination. He had been trading at around the [2.7] mark but has now been backed into [2.2]."

The FTM boys give us their usual two backs and one lay ahead of this afternon's racing.

Welcome to Follow The Money for Saturday the 26th March. Today's movers come from Lingfield, Bangor and Newbury

We start with Lingfield where Richard Hannon's supposed first string, Vanguard Dream, has been drifting in the 14:35. Early bets have been matched at [2.74] but he now trades at [3.7] as punters have come in for Hannon's other runner Dubawi Gold and also nibbled at Clive Brittain's runner. The selection has done nothing wrong so far in his short career but today is a big step up in class and the confidence in the horse to have improved to this level over winter appears to be low if the market is anything to go by.

Over to Wales now where in the 16:20 at Bangor Merrydown has been supported from some big prices. He's been matched at [28.0] for good money but now trades at [12.5] and the gamble shows no signs of abating. Nicky Richards' 8 year-old has always been highly thought of but has clearly suffered some problems in the last year or so. He does however have some very useful novice form and was also sent off as favourite for a Grade 3 handicap last year. So after a pleasing blow out on heavy at Haydock, he looks primed for a big run on his more favoured better ground.

We finish at Newbury where in the 17:05 Broomfield has been well backed for the powerful Paul Nicholls/Ruby Walsh combination. He had been trading at around the [2.7] mark but has now been backed into [2.2]. Sent off favourite for his debut, he travelled powerfully into the race but was run out of it in the finish, being beaten by what looks a useful horse for Alan King. He drops four furlongs in trip today, which will surely suit, and he'll take all the beating.
