Baron Watlass runs at the Catterick (above) this afternoon
"The move in from [14.0] to [7.2] for Latin America suggests indicates that backers are expecting a decent run... "
Today's market movers spring from the cards at Plumpton and Catterick...
Today's feature race is the 14.30 at Plumpton, where the race conditions give Fruity O'Rooney a 6lb penalty compared to his principal market rival Alderluck. Not surprisingly, first trades matched Alderluck below [1.7] and Fruity O'Rooney about [2.6]. From that point, however the prices of the two have converged around the [2.3] mark, apparently on the assumption that frunt-running Fruity O'Rooney will cope better with underfoot conditions. In what is sure to be a battle of attrition, the other runner attracting betting interest is Ballyegan and the drift on Alderluck suggests that a lay at [2.3] may be the smart play.
The same trainer has a well-backed contender an hour later, in Latin America. On a day of small fields at Plumpton, a case can be made for all six runners in the 15.30. However, the move in from [14.0] to [7.2] for Latin America suggests indicates that backers are expecting a decent run from him now he is equipped with a visor and back on favoured heavy ground.
The most visible early market move has been for Baron Watlass in the 15.50 at Catterick, with backers snapping up offers from[22.0] in to a current [7.4]. Like any 16 runner H'cap, our selection will have to show something a bit extra to finish in front of the pack, but the early money suggests this is the one with the potential for such a race.
Recommended bets:
Lay Alderluck @ [2.3] 14:30 Plumpton
Back Latin America @ [7.4] 15:30 Plumpton
Back Baron Watlass@ [7.4} 15:50 Catterick.
