Everton rush to celebrate Phil Neville's winner

"Leighton Baines' last minute free-kick rewardied In-Play backers of the draw at [28.0]."

Miserable season continues as Chelsea crash out in front of the Stamford Bridge faithful while United go through but do not impress

Chelsea shot themselves in the foot when twice throwing away fantastic chances to win at home to Everton today.

After a goalless 90 minutes, for which the west Londoners side had been backed at [1.51] to win, Frank Lampard broke the deadlock in extra time.

But, with last year's winners within touching distance of the next round, the visitors grabbed a lifeline thanks to a Leighton Baines free-kick, his strike rewarding In-Play backers of the draw at [28.0] and forcing the game into penalties.

Chelsea again gave themselves a chance when Baines' spot kick was saved by Petr Cech to go ahead in the penalty shootout. But misses by Nicolas Anelka and Ashley Cole handed it all back to the Toffees and Phil Neville smashed home the final penalty to send Everton through.

The 2009 runners-up are [7.6] to win it this year but the favourites are still Manchester United at [3.5].

Visitors Crawley Town deserve enormous credit after restricting United to just one goal and coming close on several occasions in their attempts to equalise, even hitting the woodwork in stoppage time. But the dream wasn't to be and a second string home side edged a tight affair in a game that bucked the pre-match odds - punters were suitably confident in the home side to back them at [1.23] to score two goals or more for instance.

In the day's two 3pm kick-offs, Birmingham and Stoke were both 3-0 winners. The pair both trade at [20.0] to lift the cup.
