"Radio Nowhere has been revitalised by the fitting of blinkers and put up a bold display of jumping on his chase debut at Newcastle..."
Timeform's three best bets for Wednesday all come from Musselburgh...
It's a handicap chase over two-and-a-half miles under consideration first (14:40) and it looks an interesting contest with a handful of contenders appealing as unexposed in this sphere. The pick of the bunch looks to be Radio Nowhere who has been revitalised by the fitting of blinkers and put up a bold display of jumping on his chase debut at Newcastle. He was narrowly touched off on that occasion and had run a creditable fourth over hurdles prior to that, suggesting Donald McCain may have got his measure. He looked a horse capable of significant improvement on his last start in December, and provided he's been freshened up over the intervening period he's capable of recording his first victory over the larger obstacles. There are others who merit respect in the shape of Hotgrove Boy and Brieryhill, both of whom are capable of better over fences too.
Next up it's a handicap hurdle, also over two-and-a-half miles (15:15) and its another horse whose benefited from the application of headgear. The cheekpieces fitted to Willie Hall in his last two starts seem to have done the trick, bouncing back to form after a string of indifferent performances when third at Sedgefield a month ago, and then winning at the track a fortnight later. The result of this is that he remains potentially well treated the pick of his form, and provided he is willing to continue his resurgence for William Amos he could prove ahead of today's mark. He's given narrow preference to make it two in a row, although Tweedo Paradiso caught the eye at Catterick last time and Some Lad, back from a break, has an excellent record fresh.
Our final bet of the day comes in the two-mile handicap hurdle (15:50) and the 8 lb rise Forced Family Fun received for his most recent win at Doncaster shouldn't be enough to prevent him from winning again here. He showed useful form on the flat, winning twice for Michael Bell and has proved equally adaptable for new handler John Quinn, who excels with these types. He made a winning start over jumps at Hexham before unseating in a minor event at Catterick. He was a creditable second in a similar contest next time out a Ffos Las, but put in a sterling effort on his handicap debut last time and has the profile and ability to make a significant impact in this sphere. He's taken to continue on his upward trajectory at the expense of today's opponents, although Figaro and Roman Flight are both worth bearing in mind.
