Swing Bowler will make her seasonal reappearance at Newbury on Saturday in the Betfair Hurdle before a likely tilt at the Mares' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival...

Third behind My Tent Or Yours in the showpiece handicap last year, David Pipe's useful seven-year-old will race off just a 2 lb higher mark at the weekend.

Swing Bowler headed to Cheltenham to tackle Quevega after her fine run at Newbury 12 months ago, but was beaten a long way out, which Pipe put down to her stamina being stretched on the soft ground.

The daughter of top-class racemare Lady Cricket, and half-sister to the unbeaten Red Sherlock, will be running in new colours for the first time following the death of owner-breeder David Johnson.

"The plan is to go for the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury on Saturday and then onto the OLBG Mares' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival," Pipe told OLBG.com.

"She did not quite get the trip last year (at Cheltenham) but she is stronger this year and as long as the ground is not too soft, then that should give her a better chance."

Timeform's Matt Gardner fancies Swing Bowler to run a big race in the Betfair Hurdle and you can read his preview of the valuable handicap HERE.
