Home And Away: SV Ried to make Admira Wacker weep

SV Ried have lost just one of their last 11 home encounters

Jonno Turner is branching out this evening with bets on matches that are taking place in Austria and Belgium...

It's Wednesday, the weekend is finally in sight on the horizon and I can't wait to spend some time messing around with one of my Christmas presents. My mate got me a six-inch inflatable Dr Who tardis - it has taken me three months to blow it up.

I've had worse presents. The year before he said he was going to get me something that would really take my breath away. I was gutted when I had to take delivery of a treadmill.

We're focussing on the Austrian Bundesliga for our first tip of the day, as SV Ried host Admira Wacker at the Keine Sorgen Arena, with the home side looking to extend their excellent form on their home patch.

Boss Paul Gladovatz led them into fifth place in the league before agreeing to depart for Sturm Graz, and the hosts are only five points off top spot, so go into this game with much still to play for.

Just one loss in 11 in front of their fans shows that Ried are playing with confidence and solidarity and interim coaches Gerhard Schweitzer and Michael Angerschmid's side may be even higher if it wasn't for their patchy away form (a recent run of three consecutive defeats on the road a case in point).

Admira travel to their opponents in the midst of a thoroughly miserable run which has seen them lose five on the bounce away from home, and - in the bigger picture - win none of their last nine.

That poor form leaves the visitors, who have been going great guns at home all season, just one point clear of Ried and the pressure is on coach Dietmar Kuhbauer to start delivering some positive results away from the Trenkwalder Arena immediately.

But it's clear that the visitors have some problems defensively - a whopping 11 goals conceded in their last five on the road shows that all is not well at the back, and this is something that Kuhbauer will need to correct if he is to stop his side slipping down the table at the final hurdle.

Over to Belgium now and the Jupiler League, where Cercle Brugge travel to face Lokeren at the Daknamstadion.

The hosts currently sit eighth in the league, following a few useful results of late. But a look at the bigger picture indicates that there may be a weakness in the home side for Cercle Brugge to take advantage of.

Just five wins in 20 on their own patch shows that Lokeren's recent resurgence is masking what was once (whisper it) relegation form at the Daknamstadion.

Boss Peter Maes has done well to inspire his charges to four home league wins since Christmas, but the Tricolores are still conceding an average of a goal per game and Cercle Brugge will be confident of nicking a goal or two here.

The visitors sit above their opponents in fifth place, and will be desperate to earn a third away win in four tonight.

Coach Bob Peeters has seen his side lose only one of their last four on the road, and following two consecutive losses in the league, will be keen to arrest a slump which has seen his side drop a place.

Perhaps because of that run, the away side are available at excellent odds here, and I think that we could see them return to form with a bang tonight.
