A southern state in the United States continues to fight illegal poker games. Sumpter, South Carolina was the scene of a police raid that ended in the seizure of illegal poker machines. Poker players would no longer be able to find their game at Monzingo's Grocery on North Main Street, where officer took almost 5,000 prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, and more than $16,000 in cash. Ravindrabhai Patel was arrested and charged with three counts of illegal possession of prescription drugs, two counts of operating a gaming house and other charges. South Carolina has a long history of poker crackdowns both for live and online poker.
