Granger (above) is have a solid season
"Indiana should take care of the Clippers. They have won four in a row against Western Conference opposition which is telling at this stage of the season. They should be priced around [1.9] with the -3.5 handicap."
Nick Shiambouros serves up handicap betting advice on three important Tuesday night NBA clashes...
Los Angeles Clippers v Indiana Pacers
The Clippers are 26-18 and in fourth place in the Western Conference. Point-guard Chris Paul has been on fire recently, averaging 6.9 points in the fourth quarter. He's demands the ball in the final period and this has led to a couple of close wins for the Clippers in the last week.
The Pacers are 25-18 and have lost their last two. Forward Danny Granger is having a solid year, averaging 17.6 points per game. Veteran guard Leandro Barbosa was recently signed from Toronto to help Granger on the offensive end of the floor.
Indiana should take care of the Clippers. They have won four in a row against Western Conference opposition which is a telling statistic at this stage of the season. They should be priced around [1.9] with the -3.5 handicap.
Toronto Raptors v New York Knicks
The Raptors are 15-30 and have virtually no chance of making the post-season. On Saturday they lost 107-103 to Charlotte after leading by 10 points at the half. Jerry Bayless scored 29 points and was the most effective player on the floor.
Toronto has not played all that badly in the past couple of weeks and could make some noise in this interesting fixture.
The Knicks are 21-24 and have won three in a row under new coach Mike Woodson. On Saturday they thrashed Indiana 102-88 with a superb display of basketball.
It appears coach Woodson has got this team back on track for now, but I am not sure how long it will last. The Knicks have talent to spare but some players are not happy that their minutes have been limited since the arrival of Jeremy Lin last month. Lin is here to stay but that may not be the case for some players next year.
Toronto are well worth an interest with the +9 handicap at around [2.0]. They have nothing to lose and beat the Knicks at Madison Square Garden at the beginning of the year.
Phoenix Suns v Miami Heat
The Suns are 23-22 and have won their last four. Coach Alvin Gentry appears to have turned things around in Phoenix and they are now firmly in the playoff mix. In the last 14 games the Suns have averaged 102.3 points which is impressive to say the least. If they continue to put points on the board at this rate they should make the post-season.
The Heat are 33-11 and have won thirteen in a row at the American Airlines Arena. On Sunday they beat Orlando 91-81 with a solid display of defensive basketball.
Miami has a stifling defense that has only allowed an average of 88.6 points during its current home winning streak. This is a remarkable statistic to say the least.
This is a fascinating encounter between two contrasting teams but I favour the Heat. They are almost unbeatable on their home floor and should be backed with the -11 handicap at around [1.9].
Recommended Bets - Tuesday
Back Indiana Pacers at [1.9] with advertised handicap -3.5 1pt
Back Toronto Raptors at [2.0] with advertised handicap +9 2pts
Back Miami Heat at [1.9] with advertised handicap -11 1pt
