Sir Henry Cecil and Prince Khalid Abdulla: The pair's exciting prospect Stipulate can score at Haydock Park
"..it wouldn't be at all surprising to see Stipulate emerge as a Group 1 contender."
Three recommendations from the Timeform Free Form Site for a superb Saturday...
Winners may be hard to come by on a thoroughly competitive card at Haydock Park but the presence of the Timeform large P and good record of Sir Henry Cecil at the track must steer us towards Stipulate (16.40) in the Listed Ascendant Stakes. "It's Frankel all over again," cried one particularly excitable member of the Timeform team as Stipulate carried the Khalid Abdulla colours to as cosy a success by a nose as you'll see at Leicester last month. While it's a long way to go before the pair can be mentioned in the same breath it wouldn't be at all surprising to see Stipulate emerge as a Group 1 contender, as he travelled much the best on that occasion and showed a good attitude to get the better of Devdas, since a winner of a nursery off 75 for Clive Cox. Stipulate will relish the step up to a mile, and, open to considerable improvement, we could be hearing ante-post Classic prices being thrown his way come ten to five this afternoon.
Betfair are the sponsors at Musselburgh where there's plenty of prize money on offer in the culmination of a series of handicaps that have been taking place throughout the summer. The thriving Thinking (16.15) makes plenty of appeal in the final of the mile competition. He's shed his inconsistent tag in spectacular style this season and is seeking a fourth win in six starts today. Thinking scored comfortably over course and distance in June, and having been edged out by Hits Only Jude at Hamilton, showed plenty of improvement to run away from a big field at Thirsk. Tim Easterby's charge still looks ahead of the handicapper.
The third selection comes in the very last race of the day at Wolverhampton where So Wise (21.00) is fancied to open his account for Keith Dalgleish. So Wise left his maiden form behind when touched off by the more experienced Silly Gilly on his handicap debut at Carlisle and should go one better against a field of largely-exposed rivals off just 3 lb higher.
