Will Worcester prove fruitful for David on Friday afternoon?
"Benmadigan is well treated on his best form too, whereas the market leaders Aghill and Red Not Blue, while likely to run well, have to improve to win off theirs."
David Cleary heads to the Midlands to follow the Friday action over ther jumps...
It's fair to say quality is in short supply at this afternoon's three meetings. The most competitive racing looks to be at Worcester, perhaps not surprisingly, given it's one of only two jumps fixtures this week.
There are two class three handicaps on the card and they appeal as the best betting races too. The three-mile hurdle at 15:50 looks sure to be well run, with plenty of these noted front runners, and that could set things up for Benmadigan. He can finish strongly from off the pace, has a good record on the track and seems sure to be suited by the trip for the first time. Benmadigan is well treated on his best form too, whereas the market leaders Aghill and Red Not Blue, while likely to run well, have to improve to win off theirs.
The staying chase at 16:50 has the ex-Irish hunter Rowdy Rampage the morning favourite on his first start for Paul Nicholls. He might well improve a good deal for the change of stable but he's no favourite on form. The race otherwise has an open look to it, but Troy Tempest looks overpriced. He needs forgiving a below-par run at Newton Abbot, but that came after he was brought down on his previous start and may well have needed a confidence booster. Troy Tempest looked to be going forward before that and his trainer Emma Lavelle has her small summer team in good form.
