"Salute Him finished runner-up in the Ulster Derby in 2008 and has improved sufficiently since to believe that he can go one better in this year's corresponding event".
Three win selections for Ulster Derby Day at Down Royal.
Salute Him (16:10) finished runner-up in the Ulster Derby in 2008 and has improved sufficiently since to believe that he can go one better in this year's corresponding event. Tony Martin's representative ran a blinder when fourth to Dirar in the Ebor at York last year and hasn't been knocked about either start this time around. It does look a competitive renewal this year, with last year's first and second reopposing, but Salute Him's price of [14.0] still makes plenty of appeal.
John Oxx is seeking a third consecutive success in the following valuable handicap on the the card and looks to have an excellent chance with Celendine (16:40). The daughter of Oratorio made a really encouraging reappearance from seven months off when a good second to Mountain Pride at Leopardstown earlier in the month, is proven under these conditions, and the fitting of first-time cheekpieces is certainly not a negative.
Sinntani (17:45) made a far better fist of things at Tipperary than she had on her debut, beaten only by a pair of well above-average sorts, one of which has won since, and she should be well suited by this return to one and a quarter miles in the final event of the day. John Oxx has his string in fine form and Sinntani really ought to have too much class for what appears to be a pretty average bunch.
Recommendations
Back Salute Him @ [14.0] in the 16:10
Back Celendine @ [4.8] in the 16:40
Back Sinntani @ [3.3] in the 17:45
