A nice place to spend a spring Monday - Plumpton racecourse

"...in receipt of weight all round, it's hard to see Leitzu not being thereabouts..."

Luscious scenery, Sussex hog roast baps, and one of the best racecards in the land, Plumpton has it all. It's also the venue for Monday's three tips.

Leitzu (14.10) can give leading Flat trainer Mick Channon a rare jumps success in the opening race. A winner twice on the Flat, Leitzu has made an encouraging start over obstacles in two runs at Wincanton, chasing home the classy Gibb River and subsequent winner Sunley Peace on the first occasion. Today's sharp two miles on good to firm ground will prove ideal, and, in receipt of weight all round, it's hard to see Leitzu not being thereabouts.

King of Leon (14.40) can belatedly break his duck over jumps in the novices' handicap chase. Emma Lavelle's charge jumped fluently when chasing home the revitalised Kercabellec over three miles at Huntingdon last time and has been dropped 8 lb in the meantime. The drop back in trip today will suit King of Leon and he simply looks to have far more going for him than his four rivals.

It's not often we'll tip a bumper newcomer, but at the current odds [3.4] Tim Vaughan's No Idea (17.10) has to be worth a dabble in a weak race. The booking of Richard Johnson looks interesting on the mare, and despite her fairly stamina-laden pedigree, her half-sister Miss Vertical went close in two bumpers for Donald McCain. Dangers look thin on the ground, with Murchan High having achieved the best form despite being beaten more than twenty-five lengths in her two runs to date, and the race looks No Idea's for the taking.
