There are six hurdle races on the card at Limerick
"The nineteen furlong maiden at 15:30 is another race lacking strength in depth and it presents Harpsy Cord with a suitable opportunity to open his account over hurdles."
We have got three selections for the first part of a two-day meeting at Limerick....
Shifa is likely to be sent off favourite in the mares maiden hurdle at 14:55 on the strength of a pair of placed efforts at Thurles since joining Willie Mullins. However, she doesn't look anyhing out of the ordinary and it could pay to oppose her with Sugar Bullet. The winner of a bumper at Naas in November, Sugar Bullet has twice finished second over hurdles, including when chasing home the useful Our Girl Salley at Navan, and shaped as if the return to this sort of trip would suit when fifth to Gift of Dgab at that track last time. Dessie Hughes has his team in good order at present and Sugar Bullet looks sure to give a good account.
The nineteen furlong maiden at 15:30 is another race lacking strength in depth and it presents Harpsy Cord with a suitable opportunity to open his account over hurdles. A ready winner of his sole start in points last year, Harpsy Cord has been a shade unfortunate to bump into some above-average types in maiden hurdles this season, runner-up to So Young at Leopardstown on debut and then third to Raptor and Westmeath (winner since) at Punchestown last time. Shannon Spirit appeals as the biggest danger to the selection, but the form of the maiden he finished second in at Thurles isn't anything special and he isn't certain to be suited by the step up to this trip.
Are You The One shaped a good deal better than the distance beaten would suggest at Gowran last month and he looks capable of going close in the first of three handicap hurdles on the card at 16:05. Kieran Purcell's gelding was still battling it out for a place when a mistake two out put paid to his chance in that Gowran contest (won by Lascalahall) and he is entitled to come on for that run. He has a good record around Limerick having won a maiden and finished second in a conditions event here last season, the drop back in trip will suit and he looks worth an interest at a bit of a price.
