"Wee George has been well backed, now trading at [3.7] having earlier been [5.25]."

Today's Follow The Money comes from Carlisle and Southwell...

We start at Carlisle in the 14:50 novice chase which has seen favourite The Knoxs prove weak, moving out to [1.74] from [1.5]. The selection made it third time lucky over fences when getting his head in front last time at Sedgefield so clearly arrives here in good form. However, he was a faller on his first two chase starts and the mistakes were also visible in that last win. Today's drop to two miles does not look ideal and his main market rival, also a winner last time and open to improvement, should be able to get an easy lead and put pressure on the selection's jumping. Although this is just a three runner race, at the odds the favourite looks worth taking on.

Next we head to Southwell and the 16:45 staying handicap hurdle in which Reefer Beefer has been backed at long odds, moving from [11.0] to [5.7]. An element of trust has to be taken with this one as the selection's form figures leave little to be desired. He was pulled up when last seen at the turn of the year on his handicap debut on heavy ground and takes a big step up in trip. The positives are that today's better ground should suit, this is an open race, he has been dropped 10lbs for that last effort and the money indicates his wellbeing at home. An improved run could be on the cards.

Finally we go back to Carlisle and the 17:10, two mile handicap chase in which Wee George has been well backed, trading at [3.7], having earlier been [5.25]. This nine-year-old is lightly raced and has clearly been hard to keep sound. He fell on a comeback run in February but improved to post a very promising effort when runner up over slightly further earlier this month. That form has since been boosted with the winner triumphing again next time out and the selection should have come on again since. The handicapper has been fair and a big run looks likely today.
