After a routine check Chinese officials found formaldehyde on five brand names of poker cards. Poker cards containing formaldehyde can be dangerous, giving poker players headaches and even leading to cancer. The carcinogenic chemical is used in the manufacture of playing cards, most of which are used for poker games and similar gambling games in China, but the five out of thirty brands of cards that were flagged have higher than allowed limits. Poker pros and everyone else are encouraged to wash their hands thoroughly after use of cards when playing in China.
