"A middle draw has often been an asset at this trip around Dunstall Park, and an allocation of stall seven in a 12-strong field gives Angel's Pursuit every chance of proving that to be the case once more."

Wolverhampton's best card of the winter kicks off with another competitive renewal of the William Hill Lady Wulfruna Stakes (14:10), and Angel's Pursuit is taken to avenge recent defeats by re-opposing rivals and land a second Listed career win in the process.

Shaping once again as if 6f isn't far enough for him on Polytrack at Lingfield two weeks ago, Richard Hannon's colt can boast a handicap win off 104 and a Listed 2l fourth, both at Kempton, from just two previous attempts at this longer trip.

Two of today's other contenders finished ahead of him in the latter contest; but winner Spirit Of Sharjah is reappearing for the first time since then for a Julia Feilden yard finding winners harder to come by now (1-33 in all codes during 2011), and Irish raider Duff does not enjoy the same 2lb pull at the weights this time. The last-named can expect appreciable competition for the early fractions, too.

A middle draw has often been an asset at this trip around Dunstall Park, and an allocation of stall seven in a 12-strong field gives Angel's Pursuit every chance of proving that to be the case once more.

The humbler fare of the claimer at 15:55 can provide Ron Harris and Luke Morris with yet another victory in a productive winter, as Sugar Beet looks to have plenty more in her favour than in two previous outings for this combination in 2011.

Although both nursery wins for Roger Charlton (one on Polytrack) last autumn had come making all, it looked like a four-month absence rather than an inability to dominate which compromised her over 6f here in January; whilst defeat in one handicap start at Southwell since then is best attributed to the Fibresand surface, on which she looked ill at ease.

The third-highest rated in the field on 74, she has been put in on a low enough mark to receive a useful 10lb and 7lb from main rivals Restless Bay and Dream Catcher respectively, and she is strongly fancied to make that advantage count here as long as any battle for the early lead she might take part in doesn't become a destructive one.
